PRP & Hyaluronic Acid
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a preparation from the patient’s own blood, consisting essentially of plasma (pale-yellow liquid component of blood) that has been processed to contain a higher concentration of platelets (blood components involved in clotting) compared with whole blood; it can be used as a source of growth factors, which are small proteins known to play a key role in the process of tissue regeneration.
Inside your skin, growth factors released in their biological ratio are expected to stimulate cellular proliferation of fibroblasts (the major cell type found in the dermis) and synthesis of extracellular matrix components like collagen and elastin fibres which are responsible for the elastic properties of the skin.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring component of the skin. Its ability to retain water at up to 1000x its volume makes it the ideal substance for ensuring hydration and for adding volume to the skin.
The U225 mesogun allows a safe, pain-free, micro-injections combining both PRP and hyaluronic acid in a single-step process.
How does the treatment work?
We take a sample of your own blood in a collection tube and separate its components through a centrifugation process in order to isolate and concentrate your platelets in the plasma fraction of your blood sample. After centrifugation, the resulting PRP is mixed with hyaluronic acid and is then ready for injection using the U225 mesogun. Treatments take about an hour for 1 area and 1hr 30mins for 2 areas. No anaesthetic cream required and no downtime so you can (if you wish) go back to work straight away.
Which areas can be treated?
- Full face
- Neck
- Décolletage
- Hands
- Scalp Hair Loss
- Scarring
What are the benefits?
Expected benefits of PRP include an increase of skin elasticity together with a smoothing of fines wrinkles and an improvement of skin complexion. The combination of hyaluronic acid and PRP also allow the filling of deeper wrinkles like nasolabial folds, as well as dark circles and the skin, becomes luminescent, hydrated, nourished.
Results – when will you see them?
Results start to be visible within a few weeks and last between 1-2 years. We recommend 1-3 courses spaced around 1 month apart. It’s important to remember that the process relies on the use of your own platelets and regeneration potential. There is a natural variation of results between individuals.
Things to be mindful about!
Drink plenty of water before the procedure as it will make the process of taking the blood much easier. We want to collect as much as we can in the test tube.
It’s important to remember that NO makeup or SPF can be applied to the area of treated skin for 24hrs after the treatment.
Are there any side effects?
PRP only consists of your own blood components, very few side effects are expected. Nevertheless, when injected, the combination of PRP and hyaluronic acid may induce a slight inflammation reaction at the points of injections, resulting in a slight and temporary pain, together with heat and superficial tension feeling. Slight erythema, bleeding, bruising and edema may occur, but this should fade quickly.
Are there any contraindications to PRP & HA?
Yes. If you are currently suffering or have suffered in the past from;
- Cancer without complete remission
- Active skin lesions
- Presence of an acute and/or systemic infection
- Blood-thinning medication (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Omega 3 and Omega 6 etc). Stop using 48hrs before treatment
