Dermaroller
Microneedling Therapy
Dermaroller Therapy is an advanced, micro-medical, skin needling procedure. It stimulates the skin by triggering its natural healing process by thinking it’s been ‘damaged’, enabling it to regenerate and repair itself, naturally and safely.
This, in turn, creates a smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin as collagen and elastin are produced.
Dermaroller can significantly improve the appearance of:
- Facial and décolletage lines and wrinkles
- Stretch marks
- Aged and sun damaged skin
- Scars (including acne)
- Rejuvenation of hands
Q&As
Q: What is a Dermaroller?
A: The Dermaroller (also called skin rollers and microneedle) is a small hand-held rolling device which has high-quality titanium needles that reach the inner surface of your skin to promote skin repair from the inside out. It stimulates elastin and collagen production in the skin without causing any damage.
Q: What areas and conditions can you treat with a Dermaroller?
A: Dermaroller is used to deal with a range of skin conditions which include the signs of ageing (lines and wrinkles), sun damage, acne scars, stretch marks and cellulite removal. It can also compliment a hair loss programme of treatment.
Q: What brands do you use at Cosmetica London?
A: We use two brands, the original, Genuine Dermaroller® and Medik8.
Q: I’ve read there are different size needles and I can do the treatment at home?
A: There are a variety of needle sizes which range from the tiny 0.2mm to the larger 3mm. You can purchase the Dermaroller for home use at Cosmetica London with needles sizes 0.3mm and 0.5mm. For medical treatments at the clinic, Dr Mica Engel will use either 1.5mm or 2mm depending on what skin condition you have.
Q: Do Dermarollers work?
A: Dermarollers are supported by clinical studies to be effective in non-surgical and non-ablative treatment of a variety of skin conditions. Studies have also shown that Dermarollers are often a better treatment than microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and laser resurfacing. They are proven to be just as effective in their ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Regular use of Dermaroller can thicken skin, smooth scars of all sizes, and erase wrinkles.
Q: Are there any contraindications?
A: Yes, active infection on the area to be treated and history of abnormal scarring e.g. Keloid. Loose skin is also a contraindication (if treating stretch marks).
